Every time I start a process with clients, I ask them to close their eyes and try to imagine where they would like to live. If there were no limitations of money, time, or place, what would their dream home look like… I believe that every good design must have an element of fantasy, something that influences the atmosphere and takes you away from the physical place you are in.
About a month after Alma was born, we looked for a place to celebrate with the family. Although she is our second child, it was important for us to mark the occasion and not sink into the routine of bottles and diapers without celebrating. Liran remembered the Brown Beach Hotel. It’s a small and charming Tel Aviv hotel that, when we saw it from the outside, we thought it was exactly the kind of hotel we would love to stay in for a short vacation abroad.
The hotel is designed in the style of a luxury resort in some beach town… Miami Beach style. The oak furniture blends well with the bamboo, the yellow textiles and green plants add color and the right atmosphere, the graphic flooring looks excellent in black and white… and in general, I love hotels; they fill me with inspiration! To translate this style into something more solid that suits living, you need to analyze what works in the commercial space and see if it can do the same job at home. Be careful not to overdo it so that the result doesn’t look “too much effort.”
This style has become very trendy recently, but since it’s not suitable for everyone, it still has uniqueness. I gathered a few items that can create the desired tropical atmosphere even in sweaty Ramat Gan…
Let’s start with the fans from Star, which I consider to be simply works of art.
And while we’re on the ceiling, take a look at this beautiful light fixture from Leopard.
If your floor isn’t black and white, this rug from IKEA can do the job:
As for this sofa from Urban, I’m a bit ambivalent. The retro look of the 50s fits well and its price is very low, but the finishes… oh, the finishes…
No matter which sofa you choose, don’t forget to add a cushion or two, like this stunning one from KAS:
And of course, armchairs like these from Kene Kash and Gloria Mundi, although I’m not sure how comfortable they are…
Finally, scatter some pots with tropical shrubs. If you can’t maintain plants, you can opt for artificial ones as long as they are of good quality and look good.
I found this flamingo at Soho and I don’t think it necessarily has to be used as chopsticks…
We had fun; for one morning, we felt like we were on the Riviera… Highly recommended! Try it at home!
