STYLE IT UP

I encounter this a lot. People who renovated their home with an architect, invested a lot of money in the renovation, and the truth? The renovation turned out excellent… the space layout is correct, and the choice of materials is successful, but the house is not styled. They are satisfied with the professionals, of course, and it’s not that they have complaints, but the result is a bit disappointing. Why? Because in the end, no space will be perfect without styling.

Personally, I almost avoid taking interior design projects without styling; for me, styling is an integral part of design and is in my mind from the early stages of planning. But like in the riddle about the trees and the forest, there are quite a few talented designers whose perception is more holistic and they consider the space in macro, not micro. When I enter such a project, where someone else has started and made significant progress without me, I try to complete it and adapt myself to the existing style.

When I arrived at this [apartment](https://sterninteriordesign.com/gallery/%d7%93%d7%99%d7%a8%d7%94-%d7%91%d7%92%d7%91%d7%a2%d7%aa%d7%99%d7%99%d7%9d-4/). It was at the last stage of a comprehensive renovation, where the space was re-divided, the kitchen and additional carpentry items were ordered from Italy, and all the flooring, cladding, and aluminum were replaced. Despite the significant investment already made, the apartment owners understood in advance that without the right textiles and accessories, the apartment would remain monochromatic and pale, and they invited me to complete the work. How fun… I felt like a makeup artist coming to beautify an especially beautiful model!

Recently, after every project published online, there appears a list detailing where everything came from. I have to admit I’m a bit ambivalent about this. If someone asks me about a specific item, I always answer gladly, but a whole list? All our homes already look like ‘copy-paste,’ and these recipes certainly do not encourage originality or creativity.

But on the other hand, behind these designed products, there are often independent businesses. People who invested thought, time, and money in production and are trying to survive in a market where economic forces are not in their favor. Even if it’s a product imported from abroad, if there’s someone behind the counter trying to give me the best service, then why not commend them?! So here is a detailed list of all the wonderful suppliers who took part in this small project and a great opportunity to thank them.

Let’s start with [momme](https://momme.co.il/): A stunning gallery-store for which I traveled all the way to the south of the country (Moshav Hodaya), and recently you can also find their items in south Tel Aviv (56 Herzl St.). Believe me, even when the purchase involved a long drive, it was worth it. Momme has unique accessories that I haven’t encountered in any other store. Keren, the store owner, imports them exclusively, and she has exceptionally good taste.

Since the apartment had a lot of display shelves, I was looking for items to fill them without weighing them down. At Momme, I found various ceramic and aluminum figurines in shapes of cacti, snails, windmills, etc., all in clean lines and a style that was perfect for this home. I particularly liked a vase in the shape of a head where the flowers form the ‘hairstyle’ that can be changed and refreshed from time to time, of course.

I have liked [4make](https://4make.co.il/index.asp?data=1&product=1&id=16556) for a long time, and their formica pictures appear in my projects in an [apartment in Ramat Gan](https://sterninteriordesign.com/gallery/%d7%93%d7%99%d7%a8%d7%94-%d7%91%d7%a8%d7%9e%d7%aa-%d7%92%d7%9f/) and another in [Givatayim](https://sterninteriordesign.com/gallery/%d7%93%d7%99%d7%a8%d7%aa-3-%d7%97%d7%93%d7%a8%d7%99%d7%9d-%d7%91%d7%92%d7%91%d7%a2%d7%aa%d7%99%d7%9d/). The picture we chose for the upper floor was specially tailored to the proportions of the wall on which it was hung. For the lower floor, another of their pictures was chosen, and in my opinion, it was perfect for the space, but the clients ultimately decided to forgo it.

From this angle, I’m not sure you’ll be able to see just how special and unconventional this rug is, but believe me, I was excited when I found it after scanning hundreds of rugs on the [overstock](https://overstock.com/Home-Garden/nuLOOM-Handmade-Geometric-Shaped-Kids-Rug-76-x-96/10440137/product.html) website.

With the sofa on the lower floor, my client managed to set a personal record for decision-making. We arrived at [Kastiel as is](https://asis.kastiel.com/gallery/sofas/), I showed it to him, he sat on it and said, “Alright, I’ll take it”… Really?! Without doing another round? Without sleeping on it overnight? I guess that’s how it is with love at first sight.

Regarding the armchair from [simply wood](https://simply-wood.co.il/armchair-lolita), he was more skeptical, and I was the decisive one between us. Its texture matched perfectly with the stitching on the sofa, and its ottoman could function as a coffee table, which we wanted to avoid to leave more play space for the children.

The two stores I used to accessorize the girls’ rooms were found very close by. [Shooka](https://shooka.net/%D7%9E%D7%A0%D7%95%D7%A8%D7%AA-%D7%A2%D7%A0%D7%9F-%D7%9C%D7%91%D7%9F) is the go-to store for every design-loving Givatayim mother. Every time I enter the small store, I’m surprised by how much it can contain. The store, located at the beginning of Shenkin St. in Givatayim, updates frequently, and I almost always find new things I haven’t encountered before. [Tommy & Annika](https://tommy%20%26%20annika/) is a relatively new store in the Givatayim Mall. What I, as a mother, love about this store is that beyond the design of the store and the toys, it is clear that thought was put into choosing games that develop imagination and creativity. They personally made me feel like a child again. Take note of the pink globe with Hebrew writing(!), for example, charming, isn’t it?

We didn’t get to photograph the little one’s room, unfortunately, because she was sleeping. But I couldn’t resist giving you a small peek at the lovely items chosen for it, the sweet cloud lamp from My Little Company, and the charming rug from [fun-love-do](https://fun-love-do.com/product-page/%D7%A9%D7%98%D7%99%D7%97-%D7%93%D7%92%D7%9D-%D7%A7%D7%A6%D7%A4%D7%AA).

All the photos in the post were taken by the talented [Shira Ganani](https://evenyaru.com/), thank you, darling!
